Delete your account

This page explains how to delete your Elya account and the data associated with it.
Elya is published by GyEffe Technologies Ltd (company number SC899700), 5 South
Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4AN, Scotland. App package name:
com.meetelya.elya.
1. Delete from inside the app
- Open Elya and sign in with the account you want to delete.
- Go to Settings (the gear icon).
- Scroll to Account and tap Delete account.
- Read the summary of what will be removed, then confirm. You will be asked to sign in again — this proves it is really you before anything is deleted.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. There is no undo, and we cannot restore a deleted account or its conversations.
2. Request deletion by email
If you no longer have the app installed, or you cannot sign in, email support@meetelya.com from the address registered to your Elya account, with the subject line “Delete my account”. We will verify the request and complete the deletion within 30 days.
3. What we delete
When your account is deleted we permanently remove:
- your login credentials and authentication record (email address, sign-in provider);
- your profile and preferences — display name, languages, level, and settings;
- your companion conversations and the memory built from them;
- your language-tutor lessons, sessions and conversation turns;
- your learning progress, analytics, achievements and study reminders;
- your pronunciation recordings and scores;
- your push-notification tokens;
- any content reports you submitted.
4. What may remain, and for how long
- Encrypted backups — residual copies may persist in routine backups for up to 30 days, after which they are overwritten.
- Anonymous or aggregated data — statistics that can no longer identify you, kept indefinitely.
- Records we must keep by law — for example records relating to safety reports or legal claims, kept only for as long as the law requires.
5. Subscriptions
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Google Play, not by us. Deleting your Elya account does not cancel an active subscription and does not trigger a refund. Cancel it separately in the Google Play Store, under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
